Oxford United have had more new faces in training recently as they take a look at two trialists. Udanta Singh is on a month-long trial from Bengaluru FC and former AS Monaco Under 21 player Gaetan Lenoir has also joined the squad.
The pacey 19-year-old Singh was brought to the attention of United by his Indian based team Bengaluru FC, who are incidentally managed by Ashley Westwood, a former part of Michael Appleton’s coaching staff at Blackpool and Blackburn. Singh had a short cameo appearance for the last 5 minutes of the 4-0 defeat to Benfica B at St George’s Park before playing half an hour in Tuesday’s 4-0 win at Thame United.
Also featuring in the win at Thame was the French player Gaetan Lenoir, who also played for half an hour. The 20-year-old has been training with the club for the past week and Head Coach Michael Appleton is hoping he will still be available for next Tuesday’s development squad friendly with Reading Under 21’s. He said: “He’s done alright and he’s quite tenacious. He looks the part so far. “I’m looking forward to seeing him and hopefully he’ll stick around and play on Tuesday.”
