Apparently it is Tuesday after all that Pentith's request for a Judicial Review will be assessed by the High Court judge. Firoz Kassam spoke with Pentith at the end of last week, but the Cheshire developer's response was that, whilst he had nothing against OUFC and it was unfortunate that the club was caught up in it all, he wanted a judgement against the City Council for granting planning permission to Minchery Farm whilst denying it to Oxpens (which isn't actually the case as the Oxpens application was called in by the DETR before the City Council could reach a decision). This afternoon Kassam, who won't be represented at the hearing tomorrow, met with leaders of Oxford City Council, who will be represented, presumably to brief John Tanner, John Arnold and Bob Block and to discuss tactics.
United's injury crisis is showing up the problems associated with a small squad, as the club struggles to have eleven fit first teamers available for tomorrow evening's clash against Southend. Things are so bad that even Mickey Lewis is being prevailed upon to restart his playing career. Those of you who remember “Mad Dog” from a few seasons back will recoil in horror at the prospect of seeing him mistime more tackles as age slows him down even further (if possible, although those who have seen him in “action” for the reserves recently will vouch for his walking pace style of movement). At least United has a two goal cushion to try and defend, but will that be enough?
