Any old iron

Saturday's goalless draw against Cheltenham was perhaps a point gained as United defended resolutely against a Robins side who were aiming to put some pressure on the fight for automatic promotion, and cement their play-off credentials. Wilder admitted that the Cheltenham pitch had affected his normal game plan, with the ball spending much of the game up in the air, with the Robins firing the ball up to big Ben Burgess, and Ryan Clarke possibly didn't roll one ball out, instead choosing to send the ball directly up the pitch.

In a rearranged fixture, United travel up to Accrington, where manager Chris Wilder is hoping for a better pitch than last year, where what looked like a failed drainage scheme left the field with huge muddy strips across the width of the ground. A win tonight will see Oxford United level on points and games played with Cheltenham, and up into 6th on goal difference.

As must be pointed out as regularly as the clocks change, United and Accrington have drawn all three games played against each other in the league, and famously replaced each other in the football league, United taking the folded Accrington's place in the 60s, before the reincarnated Accrington Stanley were promoted from the Conference as United dropped down in 2006.

Michael Duberry has picked up a groin injury which kept him out of the side on Saturday, and was ably replaced by Harry Worley, who has spent nearly half of the season waiting on the bench as an unused substitute, even playing a cameo role up front in the last few minutes at Bradford. The usual suspects of Damian Batt, Jake Wright and Liam Davis made up the rest of the back four on Saturday. Adam Chapman was dropped, making way for Andy Whing to move forward, with Peter Leven and Asa Hall the midfield behind Scott Rendell, James Constable and Dean Morgan.

Chris Wilder may wish to try a few changes, and whilst we haven't seen many free kicks from Adam Chapman this year, he could be an option to replace Peter Leven. Oli Johnson will perhaps merit a start in favour of Dean Morgan, although Johnson seems to struggle to complete the 90 minutes, and Cristian Montano will surely get some more game time to allow the West Ham loanee to show his worth.
