Oxford United have been handed a home draw against Tonbridge Angels[@opponent]tonbridge[/@opponent][@connection]tonbridge[/@connection] in the first round proper of the FA Trophy. The game is scheduled for Saturday 15 December. At the same stage of the competition last season United were handed a trip to Lewes, against whom they needed a replay before being eliminated by Halifax, again after a replay.

Tonbridge reached this stage after beating Burnham in the third qualifying round. They won 1-0 thanks to a 72nd-minute penalty, converted by Hamid Barr. They reached that stage thanks to a 3-2 win over Harrow Borough, in which Barr scored twice. Tonbridge play in the Isthmian League Premier Division, where they lie 15th in the table.

United and Tonbridge are no strangers, having played each other when the Us were a Southern League team. The Yellows have the upper hand, with Tonbridge only winning five of the clubs' 27 meetings. They changed their name to Tonbridge Angels in 1992, the Angel Ground being their former home. Last season Jon Main was their leading scorer, with 44 goals in all competitions.
