And close as this

From the Rage Online newsdesk Saturday, March 6th, 2010

After today's results the top of the Conference is now a very close fought affair. Stevenage Borough's 2-0 win over Crawley town leaves them just one point behind United, although Oxford have played one game fewer. Rushden & Diamonds have moved up to third place after winning 1-0 at Tamworth, but they are eight points adrift of the Us and have played two games more.

Kettering Town's 2-0 win over bottom side Grays Athletic leaves them in fourth place, one point behind Rushden and above Luton Town on goal difference; Luton beat United's next opponents, 14th-placed Hayes & Yeading United, 3-2. York City have now dropped right out of the championship race, losing 2-1 at second-bottom Forest Green Rovers to fall out of the play-off zone to sixth.

York remain three points above AFC Wimbledon, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Altrincham, while Mansfield Town remain eighth after beating Salisbury City 4-2, the final goal scored by Rob Duffy in the 96th minute. Kidderminster Harriers' goalless draw at fifth-bottom Eastbourne Borough leaves them just behind Crawley, in tenth place.

Cambridge United continued their climb to safety, moving up to 18th with a 1-0 win at Barrow, who drop to third from bottom. Gateshead are one point above Barrow after they drew 0-0 at troubled Histon. The Stutes dropped six first team players after they all refused to sign new contracts for next season and although they are in 13th place, nine points above the drop zone, they are in serious turmoil and could soon be looking over their shoulders. The mid-table clash saw Wrexham and Ebbsfleet United draw 1-1.

Updated League table, without Chester City.
