Altrincham are the visitors to the Kas tomorrow as Oxford United look to protect their unbeaten home record this season. Oxford have won seven of their eight home games, just dropping points in a goalless draw with Forest Green Rovers. Altrincham have played eight away games, winning four and losing just two.
Alty had a storming start to the season, and after four games lay in second place, but a run of six games without a win saw them drop into mid-table. They are unbeaten in their last four away league games, a run which has included draws at Cambridge United and Stevenage Borough and a win at Rushden & Diamonds. However, they have lost their last two games, at home to promotion challengers Mansfield Town and Luton Town, and last week they were knocked out of the FA Cup at Mansfield.
Chris Wilder has an almost full squad to choose from, with Matt Green and James Constable back in contention after they were both suspended for the Thurrock game last weekend. Alfie Potter is still out with the remnants of his glandular fever, and Aaron Woodley is nursing an injured shin. Green will be celebrating his second call-up to the England C squad for their game at Groclin in Poland on Tuesday 17 November.
Altrincham have a number of selection problems. Centre-half James Smith has been banned following a decision by the Conference after an incident captured on camera at Mansfield last week. Tom Kearney is also missing, having been sent off in the same game, as is Chris Senior, who was sent off in the league meeting with Alty's new best friends, Mansfield. In addition, Chris Denham and Dale Johnson are both sidelined by injury, which has led manager Graham Heathcote to sign youth-team defender James Smart on Conference forms.
Before tomorrow's game a group of supporters are walking from Kidlington to the Kas in aid of the 12th Man Fund. They will be joined by United chairman Kelvin Thomas and Milk Cup winning hero Les Phillips, who will also, along with Jeremy Charles, be signing photos that will be sold, also in aid of that ubiquitous 12th Man. Meanwhile, we have been led to believe that the club shop will soon be stocking copies of Oxford United: On This Day, the latest book about everyone's favourite football club. Unfortunately, they almost certainly won't be in the shop tomorrow, but it doesn't hurt to pop in and ask for a copy anyway. [@opponent]altrincham[/@opponent] [@connection]altrincham[/@connection]
