United secured their first point of the season to lift them off the bottom of the table (above swindon) at home to Cambridge. The U's took the lead through a Lee Jarman strike from a Joey Beauchamp free kick after quarter of an hour. Cambridge equalised through Tom Youngs ten minutes later. Ian McGuckin, Jarman and Dean Whitehead were all booked by referee Trevor Parkes in front of a small crowd of 4,479. McGuckin was back in the side to replace Jon Shepheard, who has a groin strain, and Neil McGowan played instead of the injured Paul Powell, who suffered damage to his cruciate ligaments at Walsall and could be out for as long as six months. A match report can be found here.
Nigel Jemson has achieved for Shrewsbury what he was unable to do for United last season by scoring a goal. In fact Jemmo scored twice (the second a penalty) as the Shrews won 3-1 at Hartlepool.
