Allen promoted as Lewis and Lane leave Oxford

Oxford United have confirmed the departures of first team coach Mickey Lewis and Alasdair Lane.

Lewis, 50, made more than 400 appearances for the Yellows between 1988 and 2000 before joining the club’s coaching staff.

During his eight-year coaching stint at the Kassam Stadium; Lewis performed every role from youth team coach to caretaker manager.

However; following the club’s reorganisation process this summer, Lewis will leave the Division Four outfit ahead of the 2015-16 season, alongside Head of Sports Science’s Lane after three years with the club.

This sees Under-18 coach, Chris Allen, promoted as Oxford’s first team coach following his impressive influence on the club’s influx of young players graduating through the academy.

United head coach Michael Appleton said: “Whilst any staff departures from the football club are always difficult, I would personally like to thank Micky and Alasdair for their efforts during my first season here and wish them the very best for the future.

“In regards to Chrissy Allen, I feel he has done an outstanding job with the Under 18s and deserves his opportunity to step up to the first team whilst also ensuring the smooth transition of our youth players from the Academy to our First Team squad.”
