Goalkeeper Ryan Clarke has today left Oxford United by mutual consent.
The 33-year-old has joined fellow Division Four side Northampton Town on a two-year deal.
Clarke, the Us longest serving player, made 267 appearances for the Yellows since arriving from Northwich Victoria back in the summer of 2009.
Having also played for Bristol Rovers and Salisbury City, Clarke is reunited with former Oxford manager Chris Wilder at Sixfields.
“If Chris is in charge at whatever level the team’s at, they’re going to be there or thereabouts in the mix,” he said.
“He’s a pure football man, and I don’t know of anyone with standards as high as his.”
One of Clarke’s finest moments in United’s number one jersey came at Wembley Stadium back in May 2010, when the Us regained their Football League status by defeating York City 3-1 in the Conference play-off final.
Head coach Michael Appleton added: “Ryan has done great for the club but we feel the time is right for everyone to make a change.
“We would like to thank him for his efforts and wish him well for the future.”
Clarke leaves the Kassam Stadium after six years following no guarantees about his first-team opportunities heading into the 2015-16 season, especially after the summer arrival of Scunthorpe United shot-stopper Sam Slocombe.
