Ready for the tea party

Boston United are the visitors to the KasStad tomorrow, hoping to consolidate their play-off challenge following their 4-0 win over Notts County on Tuesday. United, despite winning at Mansfield last weekend, and having a game in hand on most of their rivals, have only pride, contracts, and professional obligation to play for, although none of those should be treated lightly.

Following the experiment of playing Chris Hackett up front last week, which worked wonders, head coach Horacio Rodriguez has to decide whether or not to change a winning line-up. Almost certainly he will, with Tommy Mooney likely to be recalled into the front line, possibly with Hackett reverting to right wing, although we’d quite like to see what a Hackett/Mooney attack would be capable of. Craig Davies is also in contention to start following another good display for the reserves in midweek, against Thame United, and Juan Pablo Raponi, who scored twice in that game, must also be hopeful of reclaiming his first-team place. Amine Karam could well have earned himself a place on the bench too.

Boston come into the game having won just one of their last seven matches. They are in 11th place, three points ahead of United and six points shy of the play-offs. Courtney Pitt is a regular starter for the Pilgrims, but their leading scorer, Andy Kirk, has just been sold to Northampton. This promises to be a tight mid-table fixture, and Rage Online reckons the final score will be 1-1, of course. Unless United score first, in which case Boston will probably win 2-1. Or not. The most important thing about tomorrow’s game is that it allows us to celebrate the ninth anniversary of our 3-0 win over swindon.
