Oxford complete Roofe extension

Kemar Roofe has extended his loan spell at Oxford United until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old joined the club from Division One outfit West Bromwich Albion last month and has made five appearances for the Us.

The midfielder performed magnificently in his full debut for the Yellows during their impressive 1-0 win at promotion chasing Bury last weekend, and is set to keep his place in the side to face Plymouth Argyle at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.

Roofe was relieved to be staying with United: “It’s good to have it sorted out nice and early.

“I have really enjoyed my time here. I have been made to feel very welcome, there is a positive outlook throughout the club and I am enjoying my football.”

Oxford head coach Michael Appleton was similarly as pleased: “I worked with Kemar when he was a youngster at West Brom and have always known he has talent.

“He has now added a real maturity to that and he has done well for us.

“I think there is more to come from him and it is good to be able to work with him over a longer period.”
