Conference comes calling for Crocombe

Article by Dan Church Friday, February 20th, 2015

Oxford United goalkeeper Max Crocombe has joined Conference side Nuneaton Town on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old has made just two appearances under head coach Michael Appleton this season, with both coming in the Capital One Cup back in August.

Crocombe’s first-team chances took a further blow when United snapped up veteran shot-stopper Jamie Ashdown on a deal until the summer earlier this month.

However, the arrival of the former Reading and Portsmouth goalkeeper was intended to allow Crocombe some much-needed experience under his belt away from the club.

And a move to Conference outfit Nuneaton, who currently sit 23rd in the fifth tier of English football, is hoped to provide that crucial element.

The New Zealand Under-20 international is set to make his Nicks debut when they host Kidderminster Harriers tomorrow live on BT Sport (12:45).
