Macc attack

From the Rage Online newsdesk Tuesday, February 22nd, 2005

Weather permitting, fourth-placed Macclesfield Town visit the KasStad tomorrow evening for the latest in a series of must-win matches for United. Brian Horton’s side have gone seven games undefeated, the last five being victories, so Oxford will have to be at their best if they are to record just their second home victory over the Silkmen.

Contrary to our previous paranoid ramblings, neither Matt Corbo nor Mateo Robinson are suspended for this game, both having to miss out on the trip to Cambridge instead. This means that, Danny Brown excepted, Horacio Rodriguez and Ramon Diaz should have a full squad to select from, Leo Roget back in the frame following his one-match suspension. Whether Roget will be able to dislodge Corbo or Jon Ashton from the back line is unlikely after the pair did so well at Cheltenham on Saturday. It is equally unlikely that they will tinker with the rest of the line-up, with Juan Pablo Raponi looking to make his home debut.

A win for United could put the Us right back into the play-offs frame, and although defeat wouldn’t automatically mean that promotion is out of the question, it certainly makes the answer to the question slightly more definite, er, if you see what we mean. Anyway, not wanting to be considered anything other than fence-sitters, we’re going for our usual, bog-standard 1-1 prediction.
