Northampton are the visitors to the KasStad tomorrow, as Oxford attempt to bounce back from their 3-0 defeat at Lincoln last week. United have a decent home record against the Cobblers, never having lost, or even drawn, in Oxford. However, Oxford did lose at Sixfields earlier this season, and will be desperate to avoid being doubled for the second successive weekend.
Although there has been some flu in the Oxford camp, there are no new injury worries ahead of tomorrow’s game, and both Paul Wanless and Jamie Brooks played for the reserves on Wednesday and came through okay (although Wanny spent half of the match in goal). At the time of writing there is still no indication that international clearance has been received for Juan Pablo Raponi, so it is unlikely that the Argentine midfielder will be able to feature in the squad for tomorrow’s game, but his compatriot Lucas Cominelli had a good game for the reserves and will have done his chance of a call-up no harm.
Northampton, on the other hand, do have players missing through suspension and injury. Midfielder Lee Williamson is suspended after getting a fifth booking against Cambridge last Friday, while Josh Low and David Galbraith, also midfielders, are both out injured (although Low is due to have a late fitness test to see if he can play). However, Tommy Jacszun is back after injury, so it’s not all bad news for the visitors.
Bearing in mind United’s home record against Northampton, the need to have a good game after Lincoln, and the visitors’ injury worries, Rage Online feels it ought to be relatively optimistic in our prediction. However, old habits die hard, so we’re going to hedge our bets and settle on 1-1.
