Due leave on loan

Article by Dan Church Saturday, November 29th, 2014

Winger Junior Brown has left Oxford United to join Mansfield Town on loan.

The former Fleetwood Town forward will stay with the Stags until the beginning of January, meanwhile Freddie Grant has moved to Farnborough on work experience.

Brown, 25, has found his first-team chances limited under boss Michael Appleton recently, with the situation unlikely to change anytime soon after Oxford sealed deals for strikers John Campbell and Wes Burns before Thursday’s deadline.

Appleton explained: “Junior is a good pro and at this stage in his career wants to be playing regular football.

“That hasn’t been happening here so a chance to play matches up at Mansfield will hopefully give him a chance to show what he can do.”

On the other hand, Oxford youth team left-back Grant has stepped up to play Conference South football with Farnborough after impressing out on loan for Margate earlier this season.
