Oxford United defender Matt Bevans could miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.

The 21 year-old right-back damaged ligaments whilst playing on loan at Farnborough in the Vanarama Conference South.

Bevans, who is expected to be out for six to nine months, said: “I’ve enjoyed playing at Farnborough and the injury has come at a bad time.

“I had a scan and then went in for the operation yesterday so now all I can do is work hard and try to come back stronger.”
