United played Cheltenham Town in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Iffley Road this afternoon, and ran out 2-1 winners. The game was goalless at half-time, but Damien Spencer gave the Robins the lead at the beginning of the second half. Three minutes later David Woozley equalised for United, and after some good saves from Simon Cox to keep the scores level, Billy Beechers scored Oxford’s winner.
The game was a good run-out for United, who also gave a full 90 minutes to new signing Lucas Cominelli and Jamie Brooks. In addition to those already mentioned, Danny Morgan, Lee Molyneaux, Terry Parker and Mark E’Beyer all also played. We have no idea who else was involved for the Us, but it seems reasonable to assume that Amine Karam and Emiliano Diaz probably featured, possibly along with other triallists.
In the Oxfordshire Senior Cup, Oxford United, who received a bye through to the quarter-finals, have been drawn at home to Carterton Town. The game has to be played before February 26th, and will most likely take place at Court Place Farm. Banbury United, who beat Oxford in last season’s final at the Kas, have been drawn away to Oxford City.
