Hello Darlo

From the Rage Online newsdesk Friday, October 8th, 2004

On Sunday Darlington come to the KasStad, hoping to end United’s run of ten home league games without defeat. Unfortunately United have only won one of their last six games, at home to Bury two weeks ago, while Darlington have only won one of their last seven, in their most recent outing at home to Southend.

United still have one or two injury worries, with Jon Ashton and Danny Brown both definitely ruled out, and Mark Rawle was sent home with a virus yesterday. However, Graham Rix was very upbeat about the players’ performances in training this week, and claims that everyone has done well. This leads us to conclude that he is unlikely to make many, if any, changes from the side that lost 2-0 at the Memorial Ground last Saturday, although it’s possible that he might decide to bring in Tom Winters for Steve Basham, in order to give better service to the front two.

Darlington have a triple threat up front, with Clyde Wijnhard, Craig Hignett, and Alun Armstrong, who scored a hat-trick against Southend last week. They also have a strong defence, so this could be an interesting game. United will want to establish their authority early on, while Darlington will be looking to catch the Us on the break. This has all the makings of a 0-0 draw.
