Molyneaux the wanderer

From the Rage Online newsdesk Tuesday, July 27th, 2004

Graham Rix today completed the final piece of his squad-building jigsaw with the signing of right-back Lee Molyneaux. The former Portsmouth player, who was frequently in the same side as Chris Tardif and Terry Parker, has signed a one-year contract after impressing Rix in many of United’s pre-season friendlies.

After being released by Pompey boss Harry Redknapp towards the end of last season, Molyneaux played for Derry in Ireland and then Weymouth in his attempts to stay fit. The six-footer will provide cover for Dave Mackey at right-back, and can also play in central defence if required.

In other news from the basement, Kidderminster Harriers have signed French midfielder Frederic Advice-Desrulsseaux, and Senegalese striker Youssou Diop, while Boston United have just about tied up a deal which will bring Paul Gascoigne to York Street as player-coach. Yesterday the Pilgrims signed former Macclesfield striker Martin Carruthers, while Rushden & Diamonds signed former Millwall forward Kevin Braniff. Wycombe have signed former Tottenham centre-back Stuart Nethercott, while Bristol Rovers’ former caretaker manager Phil Bater has been made redundant by that nice Mr Atkins.
