United are now fourth in Division Three, through no fault of their own. The reason is Mansfield’s goalless draw this evening at Scunthorpe, which brings the Stags level on points with Oxford, but with a slightly superior goal difference (by just one goal). United do, however, have a game in hand on Mansfield.
Tonight’s other Third Division match, between Southend and York, also ended with neither side being able to find the net. This leaves York six points behind the play-off places.
The other scheduled fixture was at Aggborough, between United’s next opponents, Kidderminster Harriers, and Cheltenham. Unfortunately the game was postponed due to a floodlight failure, and no-one was able to find the two AA batteries necessary to fix them.
