Return to the Mac

From the Rage Online newsdesk Thursday, December 18th, 2003

United visit the McAlpine Stadium on Saturday for the last game before Christmas, to take on Huddersfield Town who were once quite good. However the Terriers lost 4-0 at Macclesfield last week so they’re obviously not doing so well now. In fact Hudders were among the favourites for promotion and a prompt return to Division Two, but so far this season they have struggled, particularly on the road.

United have no new injury worries and even have Mark Rawle to call on following his lengthy, and lively, appearance for the reserves on Monday. It’s also possible that Lee Steele could feature after his non-playing substitute appearance against Carlisle last weekend.

Huddersfield will be without Tony Carss, Jon Newby and Jon Worthington, amongst others, but will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s mauling, and what better way to do it than against the team at the top of the league? Huddersfield have only lost once at home this season, drawn twice and won seven times. All things considered, and with the law of averages dictating that Oxford’s unbeaten run is likely to end sometime, Rage Online is predicting a 1-0 home win.

Other games affecting United this weekend include tomorrow’s game between Doncaster and Swansea and Hull at home to Mansfield on Saturday. Yeovil are home to Scunthorpe.
