Going down the A40

United visit Whaddon Road, Cheltenham tomorrow evening as they bid to extend their unbeaten run and maintain their position at the top of the league. United will still be without ex-Chelt Julian Alsop, and Ian Atkins has recalled Jefferson Louis from his loan spell at Woking to join the Us’ squad. Louis has scored five goals since joining the Conference club, and he could even go straight into the starting line-up in Gloucestershire as the other possible starters, Mark Rawle and Andy Scott, are both lacking match practice.

In defence it is thought that skipper Andy Crosby, who was forced from the pitch with a head injury on Saturday, will be fit enough to resume his place. Midfield could prove to be interesting, as Atkins has promised that there could be changes in that department as neither Derek Townsley nor Danny Brown have particularly impressed. Dean Whitehead and James Hunt, who have both done well from the bench, are in contention to replace them.

United have only ever visited Cheltenham once before in the league, losing 2-0 in April last year in the last away game of the season. This time the Us will be buoyed in the knowledge that the whole of the Oxford ticket allocation has sold out. It’s a shame that Alsop will miss this game as he would surely be fired up for it, but his absence notwithstanding Rage Online predicts a useful 2-2 draw for United. This might not be enough to keep us at the top of the league as Hull have an easy looking trip to Leyton Orient tomorrow.
