Fever hitch

From the Rage Online newsdesk Saturday, August 30th, 2003

In the morning’s fixture Raging Fever went down to their second successive heavy defeat. Fever had struggled to get a full team for the game against KHIST, but were able to field a side thanks to a debut from Nick in central defence.

Unfortunately Kidderminster had several players who were the wrong side of thirty (ie younger) and their pacey front line often outran the ponderous Fever defence. At half-time the Oxford supporters found themselves trailing 5-0.

Things improved slightly after half-time, and Fever had only conceded one more goal until the final ten minutes, when the hosts’ superior fitness told and they ran in three more goals to end the game 9-0 winners. This was the first time that anyone can remember Raging Fever failing to score, although this is a reflection on the whole side, not just the front line of Gary Silver and Neil Wakefield. Despite conceding nine goals Fever goalie Joel Harrison was still the visitor’s man of the match, which gives some idea of how poor we were.

If anyone reading this would like to play for Raging Fever, especially at away fixtures, please email us at fever@rageonline.co.uk. You don’t have to have any ability (you’d stick out like a sore thumb if you do!) although if you’ve got a bit of pace and can afford a round afterwards you’d be especially welcome. Your fanzines need you!
