Oxford United have announced their complete pre-season schedule ahead of the 2012/13 season. Grenoble Road will play host to both West Ham United and Cardiff City, with United's new players also having an opportunity to impress in a number of local friendlies.
Sam Allardyce's recently promoted West Ham will bring a full-strength squad to Oxford, including a number of anticipated new signings ahead of their Premier League return. The fixture against the Hammers will take place on Tuesday 17th July and is likely to include the return of former youth-team player Matt Taylor.
United will also host Carling Cup finalists Cardiff City on Saturday 4th August. Malky Mackay's team were denied a spot in the play-off final by West Ham, but will be looking to build on a promising campaign this time around. The Bluebirds recorded an extra-time victory over Chris Wilder's team in the first round of their Carling Cup journey, which was only halted by Liverpool in a penalty shoot-out at Wembley.
The local fixtures will be against Oxford City, Eastleigh and Didcot Town. A visit to the npower Loop Meadow will take place on the evening of Friday 20th July, before the squad depart for the United States. United then visit Eastleigh on Tuesday 7th August, before finalising plans for the new campaign with a visit to newly promoted Oxford City on Friday 10th August.
