Last Saturday Oxford United and Gillingham saw out a Nil Nil draw at the Kassam Stadium, however United stay in the final play-off spot after a late equaliser saw Macclesfield draw at Crewe.

With three games to go, United's play-off destiny is partly in their own hands. Only Cheltenham remain catchable in sixth place, however Crewe (level), Gillingham (four behind), Rotherham (five) and Alderhot (six) remain in contention to take the final play-off place.

In the first of three big games, on Saturday United face Plymouth Argyle at Home Park. After a dreadful start to the season in administration, with transfer embargoes and unpaid wages, Plymouth were rock bottom up until January. James Brent's takeover finally brought the club out of administration, and whilst a win would guarantee their safety, Macclesfield, Hereford and Barnet need storming finishes to overtake seven, seven, and 4 point deficits. Plymouth next face a tough away trip to Morecambe, and final home game against Cheltenham.

It is soem ten seasons since United last played Plymouth, a 4-2 away defeat under Ian Atkins in January 2002. United's team that day included Sam Ricketts and Dean Whitehead.

Scott Rendell and Cristian Montano did not play this game, which perhaps gives a clue to the likely starting attack on Saturday.

Carl Fletcher's team lost 1-0 away to a late Swindon Town goal last Saturday. Since their 4-0 victory at Accrington in February, the next 12 games have seen only 15 goals, with five draws, four wins, and three defeats. The wins were against AFC Wimbledon, Bradford City and Aldershot Town, whereas the other two defeats apart from last Saturday were to Gillingham and Rotherham.

Top scorer is Simon Walton with eight in the league, Nick Chadwich has five, and ex Us and Plymouth returnee Paul Wotton even has one. Walton tops the disciplinary charts with just 38 fouls, and six yellows. Another name from the past is defender Paul Bignot, who we used to see playing for Kidderminster. After a spell at Newport County, he moved to Blackpool, before joining Plymouth on loan.

James Brent also has plans for Plymouth's Pavilions concert centre and ice rink, his company being the preferred bidder for an
