Oxford United left-back Steven Kinniburgh is likely to complete a loan move to Cambridge United of the Conference after being told he has no future at the club. Kinniburgh, 22, was told by boss Chris Wilder that he would not feature in his plans for the forthcoming season after the signing of ex-Cardiff defender Tony Capaldi and consistency of ex-Cambridge United player Anthony Tonkin.

After signing for the Us on loan during the 2009/2010 season from Glasgow Rangers, he made 14 appearances to help the Yellows back into the Football League and when the SPL champions released him at the end of that season he signed a permanent two-year deal with Oxford.

The 6ft former Scottish under-21 international, who has scored one goal in his United career, looks set to join Cambridge to seek first-team football and repeat promotion success. If Kinniburgh
