Little Sammy Deering has been transfer-listed by Oxford United. The 5'5″ winger played and scored in a trial match for Leyton Orient reserves yesterday afternoon, putting the east Londoners ahead in their 2-1 win over Crawley Town, and it seems possible that Orient might decide to snap up Cockney Deering. LSD has blotted his copybook with Chris Wilder by being late for training and the Wycombe Wanderers game, causing him to be dropped for a while, leaving an acid taste in everyone's mouths.
Deering is United's longest-serving player, having joined the club in May 2007, and he signed a new two-year contract in March this year. Deering broke his leg at Salisbury in December 2008 in Wilder's first game as manager and was embroiled in controversy while recuperating in hospital after publishing a racist comment on his Facebook page. He was also a victim of the Rage Online Sponsorship Curse, which has finally wielded its knife almost two years after we switched to someone else.[@player]deering, sam[/@player]
Tonight saw Oxford's reserves lose 2-1 at Colchester United in the Totesport.com Combination fixture, the second successive defeat for United's second string. Youth teamer Dan West gave the Us the lead, but Colchester struck back with two goals in two minutes before half-time through Lloyd James and a Steven Gillespie penalty to seal the points. United's line-up was: Simon Eastwood, Trialist (Conor McDonagh 75), Steve Kinniburgh, Mark Creighton, Rhys Day, Simon Clist (Isaacs 85), Richie Baker, Mitchell Cole, Jack Midson, Matt Green, Dan West (Sam Parish 60). We've no idea who the trialist is, nor the substitute Isaacs.
