Fever succumb to the Chaos again

Report by John Matthews

Raging Fever travelled to the Leyton Orient-run Chaos Cup on 5 June. It was a more youthful squad than previously and so great things were expected.

In the group stages this hope was shown to have a basis, as the team opened with a 4-0 thrashing of Celtic with goals from James Longshaw, John Matthews, Dan Pear, and Jimmy Hickman. This was followed by a tight 2-0 victory over Bristol Rovers, with Longshaw and Pear again on target. Finally, Fever made sure of topping the group with a 4-0 win over the hosts, Orient.

In the quarter-finals, Fever faced TFC Dynamo from the rough back streets of Glasgow, and as usual it went to penalties after a tight 0-0 draw. As usual, Fever lost the penalty shoot-out, with Matthews missing the opener and Joel Harrison the last penalty. Matthews then missed his second in the sudden-death stage, and TFC were victorious
