Salisbury City are the next visitors to the Kas when they pop along tomorrow to see if they can become the latest team to add to Oxford's woes. United lost back-to-back games under Chris Wilder for the first time when they went down 2-1 at Hayes & Yeading United on Bad Friday, and will be looking to get the last ickle bit of the season back on track tomorrow. Oxford have a 100% home record against Salisbury, but as this has been the season for defying history these records count for nothing (which is always the case anyway).
There are bound to be changes to Chris Wilder's line-up. For one thing, Matt Green's 20th-minute red card means that he is suspended for this match, so Jack Midson or John Grant will probably replace him. Simon Clist took a nasty elbow on the back of the head and must be doubtful, so possibly Dannie Bulman might be recalled, or Sam Deering might start as a combined wing-force with Alfie Potter. The United players will be fully aware that they owe the supporters an improved performance, so with a fair wind this could be the opportunity for the side to get their play-off challenge back on track. (Or have we jinxed it by saying that?)
Salisbury lie 16th in the Conference, just four points above third-bottom Forest Green Rovers. Their last game was a 3-1 win over second-bottom Ebbsfleet United and the last time they came to Oxford, on New Year's Day last year, saw United win 2-0 in Wilder's second home game as manager. Salisbury, it should be remembered, are from Wiltshire. Normally a Bank Holiday Monday game would see a large crowd at Grenoble Road, but the Us current form this is bound to have a negative effect on the gate. Let's hope not.
