Fever keep the Kidds in check

Fever welcomed their old friends from Brum(ish) for a second game in three weeks due to the FA Trophy fixture in the afternoon. Kiddy take the Trophy very seriously and so had brought 33 players down to face the home side. Fortunately they agreed to split into three XIs and play Fever for 33 minutes each.

As usual it was Kiddy who took the lead, and as usual it was a free header from a corner. Fever rallied back though, and Russell McSweeney played in John Matthews who uncharacteristically passed to George Dugdale to slam the ball home under a heavy challenge from the Kiddy defence. From the very next attack, Fever took the lead when a defensive clearance ricocheted off the ever-eager James Longshaw and into the net. After the first 30 minutes Fever thus led 2-1.

The second Kiddy eleven appeared to be the weakest and Fever enjoyed significant periods of possession. Despite this dominance, though, the final ball never materialised and the second 30 minutes was goalless.

The third Kiddy eleven had some familiar Harriers regulars and it was clear that this team would pose problems for the tiring Fever legs. Indeed, it was the visitors who quickly levelled the scores once again, from a header following a set piece. Fever came back when Longshaw cleared from a corner and Matthews struck a through ball to Dugdale who calmly took his second of the game and Fever
