Us on the Trophy sauce

From the Rage Online newsdesk Monday, February 1st, 2010

In the draw for the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy, Oxford United have been handed a home draw against a team from Worcestershire. The Us will play the winners of tonight's rearranged game between Worcester City and Kidderminster Harriers (who, incidentally, United play in a Conference fixture this coming Saturday).

A home draw is the best that United could have asked for, and is a fitting reward for the professional manner in which they won 3-1 at Chelmsford City on Saturday. And while Oxford and Kidderminster have become fairly frequent opponents recently, the Us haven't played a competitive game against Worcester since 1961, when both sides were in the Southern League Premier Division.

The quarter-finals draw handed Stevenage Borough a relatively easy tie at home to Workington, while one of the other favourites, York City, will have to travel to either Barrow or Gateshead, who play their postponed game tomorrow. The other tie sees either Cambridge United or Salisbury City take on either Guiseley AFC or Tamworth. Both of these third-round ties will take place tomorrow. If any of these so-far undecided matches goes to a replay it will be played next Tuesday.
