Another Day

From the Rage Online newsdesk Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Oxford today completed the signing of Rhys Day, who was released by Aldershot at the end of last season. The central defender captained the Shots to the Conference championship in 2008 and he joins United following a successful two-game trial in Scotland.

Day was due to join Cambridge United a couple of weeks ago after a short trial, but lack of money prevented the deal and led to Cambridge manager Gary Brabin leaving the club as a result. Their loss would appear to be our gain. Oxford supporters are hopeful, with reason, that Mr Day will prove to be a more successful signing than his recently released namesake.

In other, possibly less exciting, news former Oxford youth striker Dexter Blackstock has joined Nottingham Forest on a 4-year deal for an undisclosed sum from Queens Park Rangers, meaning that he will not be appearing in tomorrow's pre-season friendly. Meanwhile, Sam Ricketts is alleged to be the subject of a transfer bid from Hull by an unidentified Premiership club, thought to be either Bolton or Portsmouth.

More importantly, Rage Online has now embraced this new Twitter technology (not that we have discovered a real use for it yet) and you can follow our brief (140 characters or fewer) musings if you're a member of Twitter by finding our current username of boris_united, although this is shortly to be updated to rage_online.
