With news being a bit thin on the ground at the moment, this seems like an ideal opportunity to plug a couple of books that, for some reason, this site has a special interest in.

First, due out in August, is Oxford United: The Complete Record. This is more than just an update of the Howlands' excellent history, published 20 years ago, and contains a lot of new stuff. Some of the Howlands' original has been omitted, however, in order to avoid duplication where possible. So, even if you have the Howlands' book, you should buy this one too (and not just so that sales increase).

Second, Pitch Publishing are releasing Oxford United on This Day: History, Facts and Figures from Every Day of the Year, which pretty much does what it says on the cover (and who says we shouldn't judge books that way?). There is a little bit of crossover of information, but this is presented in a different format, and contains a fair bit of more obscure information (taster: did you know that Peter Buchanan's middle name was Symington?).

So, in conclusion, buy these books and help make your webmaster's work of the last eight months or so worthwhile.
