Results from today's Conference programme didn't really aid United on their somewhat hopeful play-off quest, with almost all their rivals picking up maximum points. In fact, the only promotion-chasing team involved today who failed to get a result was Wrexham, but the team that beat them 2-0 in Wales was Crawley, who are themselves in the hunt and who have now climbed to seventh, while Dean Saunders' team have dropped a place to tenth. Kettering Town, whom United beat 2-1 on Thursday, recovered to beat the current Conference whipping-boys Weymouth 2-0 and go up a place to ninth.
Kidderminster Harriers have gone up to sixth place, dropping Oxford down to eighth, after beating Woking 3-0, with Justin Richards scoring the second. Woking have dropped to third-bottom. Torquay United have climbed one place to third, having twice been behind at second-bottom Northwich Victoria before winning 3-2, with Tim Sills scoring the second equaliser. Burton Albion put a bit of extra daylight between themselves and Cambridge United thanks to a 2-1 win at Eastbourne Borough, for whom Danny Brown scored the goal that gave them a first-half lead.
At the bottom, Barrow moved up three places to 18th after beating bottom side Lewes 2-0. Grays Athletic climbed to fourth from bottom thanks to a 2-1 win over Mansfield Town, with Jamie Slabber opening the scoring for the Monochrome Set. Forest Green Rovers climbed to 17th after winning 5-2 at Altrincham, although Alty have probably left it too late now to finish as low as fourth from bottom. Today's boring inconsequential mid-table nothing match was between Salisbury City and United's next opponents Rushden & Diamonds. The game ended 1-1 with Rob Wolleaston scoring for Rushden.
