Raging Fever slumped to only their second defeat of the season at a freezing Lea Castle on Saturday morning. In a battling performance, Fever can count themselves unlucky not to get a draw at the very least. With only a bare 11 players available (after a few dropped out), it was surprising that the away side dominated the early proceedings.

From the kick off Steve Gilbert (in tights, what's that all about?) picked up the ball on the left and put in a cross which James Longshaw volleyed, forcing the keeper to make a smart save. Soon after, Russell McSweeney cracked in a 35 yard effort which just missed the target. Before Kidderminster knew what had hit them, Fever were one goal to the good. Rob Muskett picked up a loose ball in his own half and went on one of his mazy runs. He gave the ball to Gilbert, who in turn picked out Steve Fuller. Fuller then let fly from 20 yards, beating the keeper. It was no less than Fever deserved ,and with the run of play they fully believed this lead could be extended.

For the first 30 minutes, Fever's goal had lived a charmed life, with keeper Danny Wells not even forced into making a save. His services were called on soon after though, as a Kiddy striker opportunistically tried to beat him from range. The game was still one-way traffic, with McSweeney, Fuller, and John Matthews regularly testing the Kiddy keeper.
