United's reserves were held 1-1 by Milton United in their first run out of the season, despite fielding several first teamers and players on the fringes of the first-team squad. Oxford took an early lead when Michael Standing converted a Danny Rose cross, following a good long pass from Gary Twigg. However, despite their dominance, like the first team United conceded a late equaliser when Adam Bailey was brought down in the area, and converted the penalty himself beyond on-loan Alex Cisak. Phil Gilchrist, Chris Willmott, and Arthur Gnohere all played the full 90 minutes, as did Luke Foster, Carl Pettefer, and Ben Weedon. Rose limped off 25 minutes from time, while Joel Ledgister took no part in proceedings.
The extent of Rose's injury is not yet known, but United suffered two serious blows following Sunday's draw with York. As if the dropping of two vital points wasn't bad enough, Oxford learned that striker Rob Duffy has broken his wrist and will be out of action for between six and eight weeks. In addition, they later discovered that Eddie Odhiambo-Anaclet damaged his knee ligaments during the game, and he will also be out for six weeks.
Following tonight's Conference results, United remain in eighth place, six points behind Cambridge United, who are now fifth, following Burton Albion's 2-2 draw at Halifax. Burton climb up to fourth, thanks to Daryl Clare's 90th-minute equaliser, as Halifax let a two-goal lead slip for the second time in successive games. Aldershot have gone back up to second after they beat 11th-placed Exeter City 2-0 with two late goals. The Shots are just one point behind leaders Torquay United. In tonight's other game, Kidderminster Harriers moved to one place below Oxford thanks to a 1-1 draw at Northwich Victoria, in front of just 481 spectators. The point lifts the Vics off the bottom, up to 23rd, above Droylsden, whom United visit on Saturday.
