Second-placed Aldershot are tomorrow's visitors to the United Stadium, where they will be trying to defend their 100 per cent away record.[@opponent]aldershot[/@opponent][@connection]aldershot[/@connection] However, the real action takes place in the stands, where the Ultimate Yellows will be getting the North Stand rocking with a display of colour and noise. United will have to be at their best to overcome Aldershot, and will certainly have to play a more attacking style than we have seen so far this season. United have yet to lose at home, but their last two games at Grenoble Road have been disappointing draws, both times after the Us were in the lead.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Jim Smith will have the personnel available to play a particularly attacking game, as both Gary Twigg and Joel Ledgister are still injured, and Smith has hinted that Paul Shaw may have over exerted himself during the 0-0 draw at Grays Athletic on Tuesday. This would leave a front line to be selected from two of Yemi Odubade, Rob Duffy, and Marvin Robinson. In defence, both Phil Gilchrist and Chris Willmott are still unfit to play (will they ever play again?), but Eddie Odhiambo-Anaclet could resume his right wingback duties. This would mean that Matt Day would either return to centre back, in place of the much-improved Arthur Gnohere, or else be dropped to the bench.
Aldershot have had wins on the road at Kidderminster Harriers, Histon, Altrincham, and Forest Green Rovers, so United will be their biggest test yet, provided the Oxford boys are up for it. However, the real battle will be in the stands, where the Ultimate Yellows will be having their launch. Aldershot always have a relatively large support for the Conference, and bring a big drum to drown out their singing, so the Ultimates will be determined to make their voices heard. Rage Online predicts a win for Oxford off the pitch, and a win for Aldershot on it, 1-0.
Conference leaders Stevenage Borough visit York City tomorrow, for a game that would normally be considered a tough away trip. However, York are pants this season and so the match will probably be a no-contest. Third-placed Torquay United play Halifax tonight and will go top if they win, while Burton Albion, in fourth place, visit an underperforming Rushden & Diamonds tomorrow. Fifth-placed Cambridge United play Crawley Town at the Abbey. Salisbury City moved up to one place below Oxford last night, after a fine 3-0 win at Forest Green.
