We’re on the telly (again)

From the Rage Online newsdesk Monday, July 16th, 2007

Irish TV station Setanta, who now own the rights to broadcast Conference games on the box, have announced which games they're going to show up until November. The list includes six Oxford games, which equals the highest number of live TV games featuring United in a single season, a record set last season.

The first game to feature United is their second of the season, away at Cambridge. This will see the visit to the Abbey moved from Tuesday 14 August to Thursday 16 August, which is good news for those of us who return from holiday on the 15th (ahem). This is followed shortly afterwards by the August Bank Holiday trip to Stevenage Borough. The date remains the same (27 August), which presumably means that the kick-off time will be altered.

Another game for which the date has not been rescheduled is the home match versus Exeter City, on Tuesday 4 September. Later that month, United's game at Histon has been moved forward one day, from the Friday to Thursday 20 September, in order to accommodate the TV schedule. Oxford's home game against Torquay United has been moved from its previous Tuesday slot to Thursday 11 October.

The final match to feature the Yellows in this first tranche of live fixtures is Oxford's visit to Rushden & Diamonds. This was originally scheduled for Saturday 3 November, but instead will take place on Thursday 1 November, and is the only Saturday game affected so far. All these dates are provisional, and it is possible that there may be knock-on consequences for some of Oxford's other, non-televised, games. We will, as ever, be second or third with the news.
