Walkie Torquay

The Gulls from South Devon visit this Saturday in a game that United must win to banish thoughts that this season could turn into a repeat of last season. In 2001/02 the game ended 1-1 with Paul Moody scoring for United.

United could give Chris Hackett a chance to play up front following Steve Basham's injury and Manny Omoyinmi and Andy Scott's failure to produce the goods. Hackett could either play alongside either of these two or, more likely, with David Oldfield, allowing Hackett to use his pace and play off Oldfield's ability to hold up the ball.

In midfield Dean Whitehead is the likeliest player to profit if Oldfield does move up front. Bobby Ford should start again alongside James Hunt. This would be Dave Waterman's last game before his three match suspension, but his performance (at centre back) for the reserves yesterday suggests that he'll start on the bench if at all. Paul Powell will probably feature on the bench.

At the back there are unlikely to be any changes, although there is now official confirmation that United are hoping to sign Adi Viveash on a one month loan. If the deal is completed in time expect to see Viveash on the bench.

Jamie Brooks will be making his first visit to the stadium on Saturday since being taken ill, which is a move sure to gee up the crowd and help generate a decent atmosphere. As this is also a kids for a quid match expect there to be lots of high pitched chanting going on. All this should spur the Us on to even greater efforts than normal, and we confidently predict a repeat of last season's 1-1 draw.
