Steeling in
Lee Steele made an instant impact for United's reserves this afternoon as he scored a hat-trick in a 3-2 win at Bristol City. Steele pounced on two errors from on-loan Aston Villa goalkeeper Boaz Myhill to give the Us a 2-0 half-time lead. He then scored with a quality finish just after the break to ensure a United victory. Ian McCaldon, meanwhile had only had to make one save in the first period. City pulled two goals back from Ben Cleverley and Marvin Brown but, despite having home advantage at Almondsbury, were never able to trouble McCaldon again. Steele must now be hopeful of being in the squad for the trip to York, especially given Andy Scott's suspension.
Meanwhile former United reserve striker Norman Sylla, who has hit a rich vein of scoring form for Banbury United, is to be offered a trial by cash-strapped Northampton Town, who are desparate to offload the expensive Marco Gabbiadini and will be looking for a cheap replacement.
