Still no Minchery jiggery-pokery…

Work still hasn't commenced on United's new stadium, and it appears that no contract between Firoz Kassam and Barr Construction has been signed yet. Obviously the longer the delay the more concerned United fans are going to get, but we don't think thst there's any need to press the panic button just yet. Maybe if nothing has happened by the end of this week….

…But there's a turn-up for the book-keepers

Denis Smith has made an offer for a striker, whose name has not been revealed. The offer was “a six-figure sum”, presumably nearer £100,000 than £999,999, but the exact fee was also not revealed. Despite a lot of speculation there are no clues as to the mystery player, although Bruce Dyer's name has been mentioned, a £300,000 move from Barnsley to Gillingham having recently fallen through. The slightly cheaper Ben Abbey has finished his loan spell at Aldershot and has turned down a loan move to Oxford City, intending to fight for a first team place at United. At present he doesn't have a lot of competition.

Those old boys on the network

Mark Watson has signed for Oldham, apparently on the recommendation of fellow Canadian Carlo Corazzin. Ray Harford's first game in charge of Millwall saw the Lions beat Premiership Ipswich 2-0 in the second round first leg of the Worthington Cup.
