It has been revealed that the player for whom United bid was Tony Bedeau, Torquay United's leading scorer. Speculation has put the figure offered at £200,000, but that is probably more to do with the fact that Torquay have recently turned down a similar bid for Bedeau. The player is currently training with Sunderland and reports suggest that if things don't work out up there for him he might reconsider. Meanwhile the U's have signed 19 year old Manchester City reerve Leon Mike on a one month loan in a move seen by City boss Joe Royle as an opportunity for the youngster to gain experience.
United reserves drew 1-1 against Bournemouth tonight up the Manor. Jamie Brooks scored for United after good work by Jamie Cook and new boy Leon Mike. The game was notable for a double sending off as both Simon Weatherstone and Bournemouth's Narada had a wee tussle in front of the referee. Also of significance was the return to the side of Ross Weatherstone after injury and suspension as a second half replacement for Jon Shepheard. Sam Ricketts was without doubt the classiest player on show in a game which United should have won but for glaring misses from Chris Hackett and Jorden Holder.
