Denis Smith is on the verge of offering a one year contract to Lee Jarman after the former Exeter and Cardiff defender impressed the United boss. Jarman is nearing the end of his second one month contact and Smith is keen to keep the player at the Manor, provided he can get to speak to chairman Firoz Kassam. Jarman has stated that he is happy to stay at United, possibly because no other clubs have come in for him.

United target Tony Bedeau, currently at Torquay who rejected a £200,000 bid from Oxford earlier this week, is also interesting Division One clubs QPR and Gillingham.

Violent Weatherstone

A second Weatherstone brother, Simon this time, is in trouble with the authorities. Tin-tin was sent off for violent conduct during the Reserve's game against Bournemouth on Wednesday and he now faces a three match ban.

Meanwhile former United striker Lee Nogan scored Darlington's equaliser at Macclesfield in their 1-1 draw.
