United fell to their heaviest home defeat of the season to a fairly average Millwall side registering their first away win of the season. Oxford went in 1-0 down at halftime when Paul Shaw pounced on a poor headed backpass from Les Robinson and rifled the ball past Lundin. Shaw scored again in the second half before Matt Murphy pulled a goal back from the penalty spot after he had been pulled back. Tim Cahill completed the scoring five minutes later. Mark Watson missed the game through injury and Steve Davis started in the centre of defence. Ben Abbey replaced Derek Lilley after Millwall's second goal. The match report is written as badly as United's performance.
Martin Foyle scored for Port Vale, Danny Hill for Cardiff, Andy Thomson for Gillingham, Howard Forinton got two for Peterborough, and Mark Druce scored Kidderminster Harrier's first.
