Evans makes like a tree

Maurice Evans, United's 63 year old chief scout, former manager and former director, has resigned and returned to Reading to become their General Manager with immediate effect. Evans came to Oxford 16 years ago from Reading and was the club's manager when United won the Milk Cup in '86. His scouting qualities are renowned and he brought many high quality players to United, including Ray Houghton and Dean Saunders. Evans was the last member of Keith Cox's regime remaining at United.

Former U's

Chris Whyte has left Rushden and Diamonds and joined Harlow Town on a free transfer.

Apparently Millwall offered Oxford £50,000 for Mark Watson. The Canadian international, out of contract at the end of the season, is also the subject of rumours linking him with Derby, for twenty times that amount!
