Not Bury Good!

United were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by “kick it long and hoof it high” merchants, Bury. United took an early lead through a snapshot on the turn by Jamie Lambert but Bury equalised late on in the game, despite being reduced to ten men after Andy Preece was sent off for a second yellow card offence, after Ian Lawson pounced on a Les Robinson error (what is it about Les and Bury?). Paul Tait returned to midfield after a three game ban, leading Robinson to drop back into defence and therefore no place for last week's star Ross Weatherstone. Peter Fear didn't even command a place on the bench. A late double substitution of Cook and Abbey for Lambert and Lilley failed to deliver the victory to United who for the second home game in succession were unable to capitalise on an early lead. United remain unbeaten under Mickey Lewis, but considering the opposition and the results this isn't necessarily as fantastic an achievement as it appears. The attendance of 4,318 isn't bad, considering the strange kick-off time and the fact that Bury's travelling contingent only numbered around 100. The match report has more in the same vein.

Former U's

Kidlington boy Mark Druce scored a hat-trick as Kidderminster beat Southport 5-0.
