United's game at Kidderminster was called off at 11.30am after a pitch inspection revealed that the ground was waterlogged. As a result United have slipped into the bottom half of the table, and now lie in 13th place, 14 points behind leaders Hartlepool whose first game under new manager Mike Newell was a 2-1 win at Leyton Orient. Second placed Rushden & Diamonds also won 2-1 away from home, this time at Lincoln City, United's next opponents. Bournemouth moved back into third place after winning 1-0 at Southend, whilst Torquay slipped to 4th after being held 3-3 at Macclesfield, despite being 3-0 up after ten minutes.

Wrexham moved up to fifth after winning 3-0 at Bristol Rovers, and Cambridge went to sixth winning 2-1 at third-bottom Exeter in a game that saw the home team reduced to eight men and the visitors go down to nine, all five dismissals occurring in added time. Swansea remained bottom after losing 2-0 at Scunthorpe and Boston occupy the other relegation spot after going down 1-0 at Hull. Carlisle went one up at home to Bury but were beaten by two goals in three minutes. The other games in the division saw Rochdale lose 1-0 at home to York and Shrewsbury and Darlington draw 2-2 at Gay Meadow.

Wayne Hatswell scored a rare goal, recording Chester's final strike in their 5-0 win over Margate. Dean Windass scored the first goal of his loan spell at Sheffield United, notching the Blades' second in their 5-0 win at Windass's former club Bradford City. Marco Gabbiadini scored twice as Northampton beat Port Vale 3-0. In Scotland Leon Mike scored for Aberdeen in their 2-1 defeat at Partick Thistle.

In the big non-league match AFC Wallingford beat AFC Wimbledon 3-0 in the South-East Combined Counties League top of the table clash. The game was marred by trouble in the clubhouse at half time, with Oxford United supporters apparently to blame for the violence. Idiots.
