Phoenix from the flames?

A meeting tonight at the Kassam Stadium was attended by approximately 30 United fans. The meeting was called by FOUL to declare its own death and for supporters of the club to determine the way forward for any potential future supporters group. The assembled fans heard three external speakers talk about their diverse experiences (see yesterday's news for details) and were then invited to sign up to form a working group to determine the future direction a new group should take. This working group will be called together within the next fortnight for preliminary discussions. If anyone was unable to attend tonight's meeting but might be interested in being involved contact details will be posted on Rage Online at a later date.

Mansfield preview

United visit Field Mill on Saturday as they take a break from league action and face Mansfield in the first round of the FA Cup. Oxford could welcome back to their ranks two players who have been out with injury. Wayne Hatswell has missed the last three games with either a bad back or suspension (take your pick) but played the full 90 minutes of the reserves match on Monday, and Andy Scott has been out of action since September, but has been in full training with the first team squad all week. It may yet be too early for Mark Wright to risk Scott, but Hatswell will be hopeful of regaining his place instead of Jon Richardson.

The remainder of the line-up will presumably depend on the tactics that Wright chooses to play, presumably not 4-4-2, although it is almost certain that Mansfield will include Sir Les Robinson in their line-up. Robbo was their player of the season last year and is very popular with the Stags fans. Another player to watch out for is Chris Greenacre, who performs a function that United could desparately do with, namely scoring goals. However, up for the cup, Rage Online reckons that the Us will do enough to bring Mansfield back to Oxford for a replay, drawing 1-1 in the East Midlands.
