Reserves cookin'

United's reserves won again yesterday, for the fifth game in succession. A first half goal from Chris Hackett was enough to give the U's victory despite a lacklustre display from an experienced side. Canadian triallist Simon Vickers replaced Jamie Cook for the last 17 minutes of the match. Vickers, a striker, was selected by Vancouver 86ers in the college draft from University of of Victoria, and then went on trial to Clyde and then Bournemouth.

Mark Watson, rejected by both Wolves and Oldham since leaving the Manor, is gradually making his way northwards, now having a trial for St Johnstone, where he will link up again with former loan striker Craig Russell. John Durnin, meanwhile, has been offered a contract until the end of the season by Jan Molby at Kidderminster. Eddie Newton's career continues to nosedive, as he is now set to have a trial with Cheltenham Town, playing for their reserves against Bournemouth today. He only spent one month at Barnet earlier this season.
