Contract extensions

Contract extensions

Two United players on monthly contracts, Lee Jarman and goalie Jimmy Glass, have both been given contracts until the end of the season. Jarman, signed as a central defender but recently playing in midfield, came to Oxford having failed to make the grade at Exeter City or Merthyr Tydfil, which could be an indication of how low United have sunk. Glass's extension makes a bit more sense in that Oxford needs a back-up for Richard Knight. It is not clear if Hubert Busby Junior is still on the club's books.

Dave Kemp, meanwhile, has scotched rumours, mainly prevalent on the chat board of Ox-Tales, that he is about to sell Joey Beauchamp to QPR for £200,000 or £150,000 plus Ross Weare.

Cup stuff

United will make the long trip north to the Deva in the second round of the FA Cup as Chester City of the Conference beat third division Plymouth 2-1 at Home Park after extra time. Substitute Scott Ruscoe was the Chester hero, scoring in the 17th minute of added time after Argyle's Paul McGregor had equalised Steve Whitehall's opener.
